Leeds United duo Alfie McCalmont and Ryan Edmondson have sent messages to Whites fans after their impressive displays for the U23s last night.

Carlos Corberan's side beat Wigan Athletic U23s in their Professional Development League North tie at the DW Stadium.

There were a number of members of the first-team squad included in the starting XI, such as Illan Meslier, Jamie Shackleton and Leif Davis.

Edmondson opened the scoring for Leeds early in the second half after McCalmont recovered the ball deep in the Latics half.

McCalmont would prove vital in the second goal as well, dissecting the Wigan defence with an excellent ball through to Jordan Stevens who doubled the lead for the visitors.

Leeds continued to create chances and the result looked in the bag when the Latics were reduced to 10 men in the 80th minute.

The victory is the second on the bounce for Corberan's side and sees them climb up to fifth in the defence of their Professional Development North title.
