Leeds United are resisting attempts by Las Palmas to return Hadi Sacko to Elland Road as they seek another club willing to take him on a temporary basis, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post

The 24-year-old joined Leeds from Sporting Lisbon in 2016 for a fee thought to be in the region of £1.5m. It came after a successful loan spell where he scored twice in 38 outings, but his career has petered out since then.

He started just one match for the Whites last season, coming off the bench a further 13 times, but failed to impress and was quickly ushered out of the door to Spanish second division side Las Palmas in the summer.

He's struggled to impress there too, making just five appearances for them all of which have come from the bench. He is on a season-long loan, but they're keen to end that early and get him off the wage bill.

Leeds will only allow that if another club can be found for him, otherwise the Spanish side will be forced to honour their agreement with the Whites.

The Verdict

How badly things can go wrong for a player.

Sacko played for France up to under 20 level, but swapped them for Mali when he came of age. In doing so he seemingly swapped ambition too as he's gone from being an exciting youngster to a flop as a senior player.

Where does he go from here? He's been cast aside by Leeds, not needed by Las Palmas and stuck in limbo between the two.

If Leeds really want to get him firing, they should cover his wages and send him on loan to a League One or Two side. It's their best hope of getting anything back on him.
