Leeds United's January signing, Mateusz Bogusz has made a surprising admission, that the Elland Road faithful will love.

In an interview with Polish media outlet, Wezlo, when asked if Brighton's interest in him was genuine, he admitted that their interest was concrete.

"Yes, I had. I was in both of these clubs before I signed the contract.

"Leeds ‘came over’ to me, I thought it was the perfect place for me to take another step in my career. The club, all its facilities, my development plan."

This update will be pleasing to see for Leeds supporters, as it shows that they can attract bright prospects to the club, ahead of teams that are already in the Premier League.

The youngster was also convinced by Leeds' vision for the future, and hopes to be playing in the Premier League next season under Marcelo Bielsa.

"Everything that Leeds offered me was convincing. Hence a 2.5-year contract with the possibility of extension. And in perspective, I hope, playing in the Premier League."

Leeds are currently on course to secure a long-awaited return to the top flight, but Marcelo Bielsa will be keeping his squad grounded ahead of the remainder of the season.

It's unlikely that Bogusz will be able to force his way into the Leeds first-team this season, but he certainly has a bright future ahead of him.

If he's given the chance next season, then he could prove to be an excellent bit of business by the Whites, and already has a considerable amount of first-team experience back in Poland.

The Verdict:

This just shows how big of a club Leeds United are.

To beat a Premier League side to the signing of a really promising young talent speaks volumes.

Bogusz has a bright future ahead of him and I can see him playing a starring role for Leeds in future years under Marcelo Bielsa.
