Leeds United defender Barry Douglas has promised to 'dig deep' to find the sort of form which solidified him as a fan's favourite at the beginning of the season.

The former Wolves defender hasn't enjoyed the best of times recently, with his Leeds side suffering back to back defeats in their quest for Premier League football.

He earned a Championship medal last season with Nuno Santo's side, as well as finishing high in the assists chart, but by his own admission he hasn't achieved what is expect of him this season, something he wants to rectify over the coming weeks.

“Personally, not been good enough for me lately and I hold my hands up," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“I still feel myself personally that there is so much more that I can give and I have not found myself in this situation personally. I just need to dig deep and, hopefully, I can rekindle my form and help the team move forward.”

The Whites are still leading the Championship by virtue of the sides around them stuttering too, but they've missed a great chance to put real daylight between themselves and the chasing pack, not least after throwing away a 2-1 lead against Nottingham Forest, albeit with 10 men.

They host play-off chasing Derby next in the league, before a visit to Gary Rowett's Stoke, but have the small matter of an FA Cup 3rd round tie with Queens Park Rangers this weekend.

The Verdict

Douglas hasn't been poor, but the standards he set last season are high and he knows as yet, he hasn't quite reached them.

The next three games will be interesting, all are with sides in and around the play-off places and will give an indication of whether the Leeds' bubble has burst, or if they've come through the blip unscathed.
