Leeds United conceded four goals for the second time in a week yesterday, as they were beaten 4-2 by Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad in a behind closed doors pre-season friendly.

The Whites did not line up a full-strength side, with a large part of the first-team squad having traveled on the pre-season tour to Australia, but there were a number of first-choice players included, such as Helder Costa and Ezgjan Alioski.

Romarinho opened the scoring in the 4th minute for the Saudi side, with Abdel Rahman Al-Aboud and Aleksandar Prijović both adding goals before the break and Luis Antonio Jiminez making it four with two minutes left of normal time.

The Saudi side began their spell in England with a friendly against Bolton Wanderers last week, narrowly beating the League One side 3-2.

Al-Ittah finished 10th in the league last season, just three points above the relegation zone, but will be hoping to improve their fortunes with Chilean coach José Luis Sierra returning for his second spell in charge.

Marcelo Bielsa's side have one more pre-season friendly lined up before their Championship opener against Bristol City in 12 days time.

A Leeds United XI will face Spanish side Girona at the i2i Stadium on Saturday 27th of July.

The Verdict

This result shouldn't really worry Leeds fans as it is just a behind doors pre-season friendly but it is not great to see two separate Whites' sides both concede four goals in a week.

With Leeds having concluded their pre-season trip to Australia, Bielsa will now have his full first-team squad back together again.

Preparations will surely now be ramped up ahead of their visit to Ashton Gate on the 4th of August.

With pressure on Leeds as one of the favourites to win the Championship this season, it will be a huge boost for Bielsa's side if they can start the season with a win.
