Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe is set to begin negotiations with the club over a new deal, but is thought to want a £30,000-a-week contract, according to a report by Football Insider.

The 26-year-old was an important player for Leeds in the Championship last season and finished the campaign as the Whites' top scorer with 15 goals.

Roofe has one year remaining on his current contract at Elland Road and this latest report states that the player is set to begin negotiations with the Leeds over a new imminently.

The report claims that Roofe is wanting a four-year contract, worth £30,000 a week, which would see him become one of the top earners in the Leeds squad.

Roofe was one of the standout players for Leeds in the Championship last season, but struggled for form during the second half of the campaign after returning from a knee injury, which resulted in just two 2019 goals.

He appeared to return to form at exactly the right time and scored the winner in the first-leg of Leeds' play-off semi-final against Derby County.

The striker suffered another injury blow ahead of the second leg at Elland Road and was forced to miss the game, as the Whites suffered play-off heartache.

The Verdict

Roofe was one of the standout players for Leeds in the Championship last season and will have an important role to play next season.

I'm sure Leeds will be hoping that they can persuade the striker to sign a new deal, but they may struggle to meet his wage demands.
