Leeds United head into their play-off semi-final second leg against Derby County with a one-goal advantage after an impressive victory at Pride Park.

Kemar Roofe scored the only goal of the game in the second half to give Marcelo Bielsa's side a 1-0 lead in the tie, but the Whites have since suffered a set-back with a double injury blow.

Roofe and Adam Forshaw were both withdrawn early against the Rams, and it has now emerged that they are out of action for the reverse fixture against the Rams at Elland Road.

This will come as a huge disappointment to Leeds, but it opens the door to a number of the club's youth players who have experienced success in the Professional Development League this season.

Carlos Corberan's U23 side won the competition on penalties after a 0-0 draw with Birmingham City last week, with first-team fringe players such as Jamie Shackleton, Jack Clarke and Mateusz Bogusz all featuring.

In the run-up to Leeds' second-leg clash with Derby, Bogusz has now received the encouraging news that he has been called up to the Polish national team for the U20 World Cup this summer.

The club confirmed the news on Twitter by posting a picture of Bogusz posing with fellow compatriot Mateusz Klich at the Leeds training ground.

The 17-year-old has been a regular in the U23 side, but has not yet made a senior appearance for Leeds despite making his third appearance on the bench on Saturday.

The Verdict

This is a highly impressive achievement from Bogusz who has mad the U20 squad despite being just 17.

It goes to show that his performances in the u23 squad have not gone unnoticed, and will perhaps give Bielsa something to think about ahead of the second leg.

With a number of players out injured, he may well have to turn to some of his younger players at Elland Road, who are clearly very talented.
