Pontus Jansson has been named in Swedenâs squad for the summerâs World Cup in Russia.
Sweden will take on Germany, Mexico and South Korea in Group F when the competition begins next month, with Jansson set to be a part of their squad in Russia.
Leeds United (@LUFC) have confirmed that the 27-year-old centre-back is part of Swedenâs 23-man squad.
Jansson has been a regular in the heart of defence for Leeds over the last two seasons, making 79 appearances for the Whites across all competitions and scoring six goals.
His spell at Elland Road has helped establish Jansson in the Swedish national side, with the defender now a regular feature in Janne Anderssonâs squads.
Over the course of the summer, Jansson will be looking to add to the 14 caps he has already picked up over the course of his international career.
The Verdict   Â
It has been a difficult year for Jansson and Leeds in the Championship, with the Whites finishing 13th and struggling to challenge for the play-offs.
Some of Janssonâs performances have been far from convincing, but the faith shown in him by his national side will give him a huge confidence boost.
Leedsâ supporters will be hoping to see Jansson go to the World Cup and rediscover his best, before returning to Elland Road next season.
The World Cup is the perfect opportunity for Jansson to put this season behind him.
