Leeds United's Ronaldo Vieira has had a mixed summer, he's now an established first-team regular with international honours,  whilst his twin brother Romario has left the club.

Romario was one of four players released in the summer, having made just two substitute appearances under Thomas Christiansen. Whilst Ronaldo has established himself in the first-team squad, life has not been as kind to his twin.

Ronaldo has lifted the lid on his brother's release, letting fans know that they're still supportive of each other and that his sibling knows what lies ahead.

"Obviously we are both very supportive of each other and I'm not really going to say what is going on at the minute," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post. "There's a few bits of stuff going on with him so I'm not really worried about him. I think he has got the potential to be a good player and there's a few reasons why what's happened has happened but I'm not going to get into it."

He did reveal that he's comfortable that Romario will be okay in the future.

"I'm happy with what he is doing at the minute, he's working hard training on his own and there's a few things coming up so hopefully he will be good."

Romario joined Leeds in 2016, whilst his brother established himself as a first-team player at Elland Road.

19-year-old Ronaldo has now been capped at England at U21 level.

The Verdict

It must be very tough for a pair of twins to find themselves going on different career paths, but football isn't a game for the sentimental.

Ronaldo Vieira has a big future ahead of him, but his brother will now have to seek his fortune elsewhere. Having been with Leeds his options will surely be plentiful, even if they involve League Two or National League football.
