Leeds United's season took a big step back last night as West Brom hammered the Whites at the Hawthorns.

A 4-1 scoreline was arguably even less than the home side deserved, as Darren Moore's men dominated from start to finish to condemn their promotion rivals to what could prove to be a crushing defeat and bring about a turning point in their season.

The Leeds squad has thus far looked excellent in the main, as has squad harmony, but there was a hint of discontent in the camp during the game with West Brom, none more so than from Barry Douglas, who reacted angrily to being subsituted in the second half.

Douglas however, appeared quick to want to rectify both his actions and the result, taking to social media to apologise to fans following the game.

Douglas has been one of the most consistent performers for Leeds this season and his withdrawal was a surprise of sorts. However, manager Bielsa will know what he is doing, and with the Whites chasing the game, Douglas' withdrawal was probably a risk worth taking - although it proved unfruitful in the end.

The verdict

Douglas reacting like this was not surprising. His side were being hammered, his keeper making mistakes, and he was clearly frustrated.

It can be a good thing to see players reacting like this, as long as it's controlled in the right way.

As long as Douglas draws a line under this, which he appears to have done, then it won't have any lasting effect.
