Marcelo Bielsa will not be boosted by the return of any of his injured Leeds United players for this weekend’s clash with Birmingham City.

Leeds have managed to extend their unbeaten start to the Championship season over the course of the last week, despite a number Bielsa’s squad picking up injuries.

The likes of Gaetano Berardi, Kemar Roofe, Pablo Hernandez and Jamie Shackleton have been sidelined, with that quartet missing the draw with Millwall and victory over Preston North End.

Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post has provided an update on that quartet, confirming from Bielsa’s press conference that they will not be returning to face Birmingham at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

In addition to that quartet, there will be no return for Patrick Bamford or Izzy Brown, who are both long-term casualties.

Bamford picked up a PCL injury earlier in the month, which will leave him sidelined for around four months.

Brown was signed with an injury, with the Chelsea loanee still recovering from an injury he picked up whilst out on loan with Brighton and Hove Albion back in January.

The Verdict

This is obviously still hurting Leeds, but it was expected that the quartet would be missing this weekend.

Leeds’ squad have managed well over the last week, which will delight Bielsa.

It seem likely that the Argentinian will select a very similar squad to the one that has picked up four points from the last two games.
