Leeds United recorded their seventh win in a row last night when they overcame a stern test from Hull City at Elland Road.

The Whites headed into last night’s fixture looking to consolidate their position in the top two of the Championship by continuing their impressive winning streak against Grant McCann’s Hull City side.

The game threatened to swing either way with Hull looking to dig deep and stun the hosts on the counter-attack, however, Marcelo Bielsa’s side did well to snuff the Tigers’ threat and got a slice of luck when they took the lead through a Jordy de Wijs own goal. The game was put beyond all doubt when Gjanni Alioski added a late second after a blistering counter-attack following a near-goal from Hull’s Tom Eaves.

This win now sees Leeds sitting top of the table before West Brom’s trip to Wigan Athletic with a very ideal 11 point gap to third place, after Fulham, Bristol City, and Nottingham Forest all dropped points last night.

With the positivity surging through the Leeds camp at the minute, we do a round-up of the players’ social media updates…

Kalvin Phillips

The holding midfielder returned to action against Hull City last night after serving a one-match suspension, following an accumulation of five yellow cards.

Phillips took time to get into the game with his passing, as he played a few misplaced balls throughout the 90 minutes, however, his break-up play and ability to nullify any Tigers threat was as good as ever.

Phillips had the tall order of stopping an attack of Jarrod Bowen, Kamil Grosicki and Tom Eaves, but did so superbly to help the Whites to yet another clean sheet.

Stuart Dallas

The newly-adapted full-back has been an absolute revelation under Marcelo Bielsa this season as his performances show no signs of wavering despite playing out of position for the vast majority of the season so far.

Dallas had the task of man-marking the most in-form man in the Championship in Jarrod Bowen and did so very well as Bowen had to change positions to try make an impact on the game after Leeds took the lead.

He also took to Instagram to share his delight at a hard-fought win over Hull:

Luke Ayling

On the other side of the defence was Luke Ayling who captained the side in the absence of Liam Cooper, and led the side very well through a very tough game.

While Dallas was man-marking Bowen, Ayling had the same job with Kamil Grosicki on the right side of Leeds’ defence as the Polish international looked to cause a threat in behind the Whites’ defence.

Ayling has had a great impact since returning to the squad from injury and will be a valuable asset heading into the second half of the season.

He posted on Instagram expressing his relief at one of Leeds’ toughest wins yet:

How much do you remember about Leeds' 2013/14 season?

Pascal Struijk

This win marked a special occasion for young Dutch defender Pascal Struijk who made his first-team debut for Leeds as he came on to shore up a defence looking to hold onto their 2-0 lead heading into the last 10 minutes.

Struijk has been a star in Carlos Corberan under-23’s side over the past two years and it comes as no surprise to see him be the latest to make the step up to Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team.
