Leeds United are a club in limbo following Garry Monk’s recent departure from the club, after enduring a dismal end to the 2016/17 Championship campaign.
At a time of new ownership and a new regime at the club, Monk’s departure came as a shock to all at Elland Road, after just missing out on promotion via the play-offs last term, despite competing for automatic promotion throughout the duration of the season.
Monk has recently been appointed as the new manager of Middlesbrough, who themselves also endured a dismal end to the Premier League campaign last term, which eventually culminated in relegation.
Former Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew leads the race to be the next man at the helm of the Whites, as well as Jaap Stam, Phil Parkinson and Aitor Karanka who have emerged as favourites for the vacant role.
The vacant managerial role at Elland Road hasn’t stopped the club from preparing to bolster their squad for next season’s promotion push; the club have been recently linked with the signature of Spanish midfielder Mario Ortiz, as well as Norwich City midfielder Jonny Howson.
Director of football Victor Orta remains in charge of recruitment whilst the club search for a new manager, and there should be one man who Leeds United should look to snatch from Monk’s Middlesbrough in the summer.
That man is Gaston Ramirez, who is rated at a price of £5.10million according to Transfermarkt.com.
The Uruguayan was influential for Boro in their promotion to the Premier League in 2015/16, netting seven times as well as assisting six times.
The tenacious attacking midfielder has made over 40 appearances for the Teesside club, and will undoubtedly play an integral role in guiding Boro back to the Premier League next term.
At the age of 26-years old, Ramirez still has plenty to offer in the Championship and higher, and Leeds should definitely consider approaching the midfielder’s services in the summer.
With over 110 appearances in the Premier League and Championship, as well as his ability to take on any player and score from anywhere, Ramirez would be a tremendous acquisition for Leeds, and is definitely someone who needs looking at.
So… What do you think Leeds fans? Would Gaston Ramirez be a good signing for Leeds? Do you need him? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
