Leeds United are hoping to go one better than last season with ambitions of making the Championship play-offs this year.

The club have been faced with losing manager Garry Monk, who requested not to have his contract renewed at Elland Road, leaving him free to join Championship rivals Middlesbrough after just a year with Leeds.

It was a year of progress too for Leeds.

Monk managed to pull the club out of the depths of mid-table obscurity and launched a respectable assault on the top, just missing out of a shocking run of form towards the end of the year that saw them finish seventh.

Thomas Christiansen is the man tasked with going one better than Monk, and has made a number of additions since taking over the post as manager.

One signing he should definitely try and make is the loan signing of Robert Snodgrass from West Ham.

Snodgrass has faced numerous setbacks over the last few seasons.

He was kept on the sidelines by injury for over a year, just after joining Hull in 2015.

He now faces a tough battle to work his way into the starting eleven at West Ham, where he has flattered to deceive since his January move.

A number of clubs are keen on taking him on, but are struggling to cover his wage package.

If Leeds could agree a deal to pay a part of his salary that suits their finances, he could be well up for a move back to his original club.

Leeds United would be getting a player of high quality at this level, and the signing would be a statement to the rest of the Championship of their promotion intentions.
