For a long while now, Leeds United fans have been resigned to losing Charlie Taylor.

Their academy product rejected a new deal last summer and handed in a transfer request.

However, the club rejected his transfer request, dismissed any bids for him and blocked his move away.

Taylor knuckled down and played for most of the season.

However, after learning that Leeds would not finish in a play-off place and therefore not win promotion to the Premier League, the 23-year-old refused to play in the final game of the season.

Leeds have offered him a new contract as a formality so that they can receive a compensation fee for him but they do not expect Taylor to be at the club at the start of next season.

The Yorkshire based outfit will therefore need to start looking at replacements.

While Gaetano Berardi filled in for much of the season at left back, Leeds at least need a back up to the Swiss full back.

This could be filled by free agent Sebastien Pocognoli.

The 29-year-old is vastly experienced after spells with Genk, AZ Alkmaar, Standard Liege, Hannover 96 and West Brom.

The Belgian international, with thirteen caps to his name, also spent last season on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion so he has experience of winning promotion to the Premier League - which is Leeds' ultimate goal.

While Pocognoli is not the most spectacular player in the world, he provides a solid option to compete with Berardi for the starting left back spot and the experience to help Leeds achieve their goals.
