After enduring a dismal end to the 2016/17 Championship campaign, things have gotten much worse at Elland Road following Garry Monk's recent departure.

At a time of new ownership and a new regime at the club, Monk's departure came as a shock to all at Elland Road, after narrowly missing out on promotion via the playoffs last term.

Former Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka leads the race to be the next man at the helm of the Whites, and there's no doubt that he would be a shrewd appointment.

The Spaniard led Middlesbrough to automatic promotion to the Premier League back in 2015/16, and the Elland Road faithful will be hoping for similar fortunes next term, albeit if the 43-year old is appointed.

But the recruitment side of things is much more important, and although Monk has left a very decent squad at his disposal, there is still a lot of work to be done if Leeds are to secure promotion to the top flight next time around.

There is one player who, if Karanka is appointed as Leeds boss, really would be a tremendous coup for the Yorkshire club, and that player is Bertrand Traoré.

Traoré is surplus to requirements under Antonio Conte at Premier League champions Chelsea, and spent the entirety of the 2016/17 campaign at Dutch giants Ajax where he netted 14 times.

The 21-year old was an influential figure at the Eredivisie club last term, as they reached the Europa League final as well as just narrowly missing out on the Eredivisie title.

The Burkina Faso international has been recently linked with yet another loan move, this time to Leeds' new Championship rivals Sunderland, who have reportedly made enquiries for the powerful attacker.

Although the £17.5million fee that Chelsea are demanding for the forward may be a little hefty for both Leeds and the Black Cats, a sleeping giant like Leeds should undoubtedly look to lure Traoré to Elland Road on a season-long loan deal.

His ability to play either behind the striker, as a striker, or even on the wing would be an incredible asset for Leeds, and would no doubt be a formidable figure alongside the talismanic Chris Wood next season.

So...What do you think Leeds fans? Should you try and hijack Sunderland's move for Traoré? Would he be a good signing? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
