Leeds United are set to sign former Manchester City full-back Reece Wabara on a free transfer after he was released Wigan Athletic at the beginning of the summer, according to the print edition of The Sun (20th July).
It is clear that Leeds United are in the market for a right back as Garry Monk looks to strengthen the position and add to his current options that are Gaetano Berardi and Lewie Coyle.
Although Gaetano Berardi remains as Leeds United’s first choice right-back, Garry Monk has been looking to bring in a right back to provide cover and competition for the right back berth.
Leeds United over the past week have been linked with Fleetwood Town’s Conor McLaughlin who impressed over the summer for Northern Ireland, but the interest in McLaughlin appears to have died down.
Instead, it now appears that Leeds United will look to bring in Reece Wabara who featured for both Barnsley and Wigan Athletic in League 1 last season.
Reece Wabara was released by Wigan Athletic in the summer and it seems that Leeds will opt for the low-risk low-cost option, however it does appear to be an uninspiring choice compared to the other transfer business Leeds United have carried out this summer.
Leeds United fans, what do you make of the news? Are you pleased by the prospect of signing Reece Wabara? Is it uninspiring compared to the other business Leeds have made this summer? Is he a good squad player to act as cover for Berardi? What do you make of the recruitment so far? Let us hear your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below!
