Leeds United are set to make a shock bid for Hull City talisman Jarrod Bowen according to a recent report from The Sun.

The report claims that Marcelo Bielsa's side are set to make a loan bid of £3m, which would rise up to £15m for a permanent deal if Leeds were to win promotion to the Premier League this season.

Bowen has been in hugely impressive form so far this season, and already has 17 goals to his name in all competitions for Grant McCann's Hull side.

It is believed that Hull want a fee in the region of £20m for Bowen, who has been their key man in recent seasons, and has played a starring role in their strong start to this year's campaign.

Leeds are currently sat second in the Championship table, and will be hoping that they can make a long-awaited return to the Premier League this season.

The Whites have struggled with injuries in the second-half of the season in recent years, and plenty of the Elland Road faithful will feel as though that cost the promotion last term.

They've seemingly targeted Bowen as a player that would be the missing piece in the promotion jigsaw this season, although it remains to be seen as to whether Hull will negotiate any such offer from the Yorkshire-based side.

Leeds are next in action on Saturday when they travel to Loftus Road to take on QPR in what could potentially be a tricky test for Bielsa's side.

The Verdict:

What a signing this would be.

Leeds could certainly benefit from having a player of Bowen's quality in their squad this season, and this would be somewhat of a bargain if they signed him for just £3m.

Obviously that fee would rise if Leeds were to win promotion, but if he helps them to a long-awaited return to the Premier League, then it'll be worth the hefty price tag in the future.
