Norwich City striker Kyle Lafferty could be finally set to sign for Leeds United on loan - but not until the January transfer window opens on the first day of 2016.

The Canaries were reluctant to let the Northern Ireland international leave the club before the loan window closed last week, but a move could be resurrected during the forthcoming transfer window, according to the Belfast Telegraph

Neil was not keen to let Lafferty go out on loan given how light he is in attack, but the Scottish manager is likely to be more lenient once the window opens with a new striker sure to be one of his priorities.

The 28-year-old was in sensational form for his country and fired seven goals in nine appearances as the Green and Whites secured qualification for the European Championships in France next summer.

Leeds are desperate for a good run of form and in order to do that they will need a frequent goalscorer, with Lafferty the man identified by boss Steve Evans to do just that.
