According to reports in the Italian media, Leeds United are among the teams vying to sign Chelsea starlet Mario Pasalic on loan.

Italian sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting on his website that Chelsea will renew Mario Pasalic's contract and then farm him out on loan again.

A number of clubs are keen on the young star.

AC Milan could make a move to re-sign him on loan after Pasalic significantly impressed during his loan spell last season at the San Siro.

However, this move is on hold for the time being.

This has opened the door for AC Milan's Serie A rivals Lazio.

Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi is keen on the Croatian play-maker and could make a move to bolster his midfield.

They face competition from La Liga giants Valencia, who want to sign Pasalic on loan.

But Leeds United have already thrown their name in the hat.

Thomas Christiansen is set to make an optimistic swoop to sign the 22-year-old on loan this summer.

Standing at 6ft 2in, the central midfielder has all the physical attributes to succeed in the challenging second tier of English football and this move could prepare him well for a step up to Premier League football.

After spells with Elche (Spain), Monaco (France) and AC Milan (Italy), it remains to be seen whether Pasalic would be willing to spend a year in the Championship.
