According to The Sunday People reported via The Daily Express, Leeds United are hoping to win the race to sign Forest Green Rovers midfielder Jordan Stevens.

Jordan Stevens is one of the most highly rated young players in the Football League and Leeds face Premier League competition to add him to their ranks.

Everton and Brighton are also keen on the 17-year-old, who has broken into the Forest Green first team this season for their League Two campaign.

Stevens has made 13 appearances for the struggling League Two side in all competitions so far this term after signing his first ever professional deal back in September.

The talented teenager is under contract with Forest Green until the summer of 2019 but Leeds are looking to bolster their options in the under-23 side after landing a number of youngsters recently, including York City striker Ryan Edmondson, Benfica striker Oliver Sarkic and Finnish youngster Aapo Halme.

Leeds also want to add Tyler Hamilton to their youth ranks.

The Hull City winger made his first team debut earlier this season, playing 76 minutes in a 2-0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup.

Leeds are hoping to prise the 19-year-old away as they continue to look to the future.

The Verdict

Jordan Stevens is just 17-years-old and is already playing first team football on a fairly regular basis in League Two. Being included in competitive Football League matches will have been a big learning curve for the teenager and he would be a welcome addition to the Leeds academy. However, Leeds must swoop soon or risk losing out to a Premier League side.
