Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has revealed that Tyler Roberts and Jamie Shackleton are healthy and will return to training with the first-team squad next week.

Shackleton has not started for the Whites since the 1st of October and has been kept sidelined over the last few months due to a series of injuries.

Roberts, who has a history of injury problems, has been missing since he was forced off against Reading with a muscle problem at the end of November.

Leeds travel to Craven Cottage to face Fulham in what looks set to be an enthralling clash on Saturday and, speaking to Leeds Live ahead of the game, Bielsa revealed that the midfield duo were in a good place but would not be available for the tie.

He said: "Tyler is healthy. Shackleton also.

"Next week they will train with the team."

The Argentine coach added that he could not provide a new update on the status of injured midfielder Adam Forshaw.

The Whites have fared well without Roberts and Shackleton and are currently second in the Championship–10 points clear of the side in third place.

Neither player is a certain starter but their return will likely be a huge boost for Bielsa, whose side face a busy festive period.

The Verdict

You have to feel for both Roberts and Shackleton, who would likely have seen a lot of game time over the last few weeks (or months in the latter's case).

The two 20-year-olds appear to be players that Bielsa trusts and have become important parts of the first-team squad since his arrival.

They will no doubt be hoping to stay injury-free and kick on in the second half of the campaign.
