Leeds United's social media team have brilliantly trolled their lunchtime opponents by mocking Bees' boss Dean Smith's comments about grass length when the sides last met.

Smith complained that the length of the Elland Road grass was a factor in his side's 1-0 defeat to the Whites and it is not something the club have forgotten about.

Taking to Twitter hours before the match kicks off, the club wrote simply: " TEAM NEWS: The grass has been cut ahead of this season’s game against Brentford."

Liam Cooper headed the only goal of the game when the sides met back in February and the Whites will be keen to maintain their position at the top of the Championship table this time around.

Despite being top, however, they remain level on points with Middlesbrough and Sheffield United with West Bromwich Albion just one behind, so any slip up will most likely be punished.

Brentford will be looking to get their season back on track after dropping off the pace in recent weeks.

They currently sit in sixth place but five points behind their Saturday hosts and will undoubtedly see the trip to Elland Road as a big moment in their season.

The Verdict

It is all good harmless fun at the end of the day.

It will probably wind Brentford fans up more than it should and it will probably excite Leeds fans way more than it should.

But it is a clever tweet regarding a bizarre Dean Smith excuse nonetheless.
