Leeds United have confirmed via their official website that young Leyton Orient forward Sam Dalby has joined the club on a two-and-a-half year deal.

The 18-year-old will link up with Carlos Corberan’s U23 side with immediate effect, and is available for selection for Leeds’ reserve side trip to Oakwell to take on Barnsley on Friday evening.

The youngster made his debut for the O’s at the age of sixteen, appearing regularly for the East London side as they were relegated from the Football League last season.

However Dalby has been used sparingly this term, and will hope to gain more action following his switch to Elland Road.

The Verdict

Dalby looks to be a promising talent with lots of potential, and must have done something in the reserve set up at Orient to convince Leeds scouts that he could one day succeed in the first-team at Elland Road.

The forward must now get his head down in Corberan’s side and begin to find the back of the net on a regular basis if he is to have any chance of capturing the attention of Thomas Christiansen, with plenty of competition ahead of him in the race for a starting spot.

Fans will keep a keen eye on Dalby’s progress in the coming weeks and months.
