With the January transfer window fast approaching, clubs in the Championship are beginning to increase their scouting output as they search for the perfect addition to their squads in the winter window.

Leeds United are no exception, with scouts from the West Yorkshire side present at Coventry’s League Two clash at Stevenage.

The Sky Blues are beginning to find form in the fourth tier following their relegation to the division last season, with a number of star performers emerging from the team at The Ricoh Arena.

One man scouts will have kept an eye on is impressive young winger Jodi Jones, who has set the division alight this season with a series of fine displays.

It is clear that Jones is destined to play at a higher level, but disaster struck for the player and watching scouts, as Jones was stretchered off with a nasty looking injury.

The extent of the knock is yet to be revealed, but Jones could be sidelined for some time with the injury.

Whether this scuppers a potential January deal remains to be seen, but scouts will have seen enough of the player to know that he is the real deal.

The Verdict

There were a number of fine players on display at Broadhall Way, but Jones is the name on everybody’s lips.

The 20-year-old proved the difference in the win at Lincoln City the week before, and performed well before injury saw him removed from the tie.

Don’t expect Jones to go anywhere in January, but he will certainly be on the move in the summer.
