Leeds United are rivalling Middlesbrough in the race to sign Huddersfield Town winger Rajiv van la Parra.

The 27-year-old hasn't started a game for the Terriers since October, and reports in the Sun claim that the Dutchman could be available for a price of around £5million, having made just five appearances this term.

Boro boss Tony Pulis, who has recently admitted that his side are lacking pace in their attacking play, is reportedly tracking a move for the attacker, whilst Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds have also declared an interest in the exciting wide-man.

Van la Parra was influential for Town in their promotion to the Premier League in 2016/17, and was a regular for David Wagner's men last season too. But, the German's decision to play wing-backs has limited the winger to very little game time, with promotion contenders Boro and Leeds looking to pounce.

Leeds currently sit at the top of the Championship table, whilst Boro are in freefall - a run of just two wins in their last nine games has put the North East club down to sixth position.

The Verdict

Rajiv van la Parra could be a fantastic signing for both clubs.

He's fast, he's strong and most importantly, he has brilliant end product.

I think Boro need him more than Leeds do - Pulis has already admitted that Boro lack firepower and pace up top, and signing the Dutchman could definitely ignite that spark.

£5million would be an absolute bargain for either side, though.
