Leeds United enjoyed a good summer in the transfer market on the whole, despite seeing key players from last season like Kemar Roofe and Pontus Jansson leave the club.

Arrivals such as Helder Costa and Jack Harrison have added depth and pace to the wide areas, while the return of Jack Clarke on loan despite selling him to Spurs is a bonus for the club.

Couple this with the addition of defender Ben White and the deadline day capture of Arsenal youngster Eddie Nketiah, and Marcelo Bielsa's men can be fairly chuffed with their efforts to fresh the squad up over the summer.

However, they didn't capture all their targets, as Liverpool winger Ryan Kent slipped through the net and ended up staying at Anfield despite a plethora of interest from Leeds and others through the summer.

According to the Sun on Sunday (print edition, Sunday 11th August 2019), Kent didn't move to Elland Road after Leeds failed to cough up the asking price the Reds were demanding, with the Whites reportedly only offering to pay £5m in installments for the young winger.

But it could well prove to be a shrewd move from Leeds and one we here at FLW think could well prove have been a good decision from the club.

Kent has, as yet anyway, failed to really deliver on a big stage, and while playing at Rangers is a high pressure environment, the standard of Scottish football cannot be compared to the quality of the Premier League or the hustle and bustle of the Championship.

Leeds brought in the likes of Helder Costa instead, who is a proven commodity at Championship level, while Harrison and Clarke showed enough last season to convince Marcelo Bielsa that they can once again perform for the club.

Kent would have been expecting to start on a regular basis for the Whites if he did sign, which could potentially have upset the apple cart somewhat in terms of squad harmony.

Bielsa already has the respect of the likes of Harrison and Clarke and they know full well that they aren't always going to be regular starters, and that the Leeds manager will pick the team he sees fits best for the occasion.

Signing Kent would have added depth, but in terms of quality and proven ability at this level, Leeds might already have enough in the locker to prove they are just fine without the Liverpool man.

Leeds fans, what do you think? Would Kent have been a good addition or have you got enough already? Let us know!
