Leeds United have moved to turn down an opening offer for in-demand winger Jack Clarke.

According to a report from Football.London, the Whites have rejected a bid in the region of £10m from Premier League giants Spurs.

Clarke, who impressed last season when given the chance by Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa, is a wanted man this summer after standing out as one of the top young prospects outside of the Premier League, and the Elland Road club are bracing themselves for a host of bids over the summer.

However, it would appear the Whites have stood firm in response to the opening bids in relation to Clarke, with owner Andrea Radrizzani taking a no nonsense stance it would appear.

Leeds though will be fully aware that this isn't the end of the bidding war for Clarke, with money likely to be no object for the likes of Spurs as Mauricio Pochettino looks to strengthen his ranks ahead of next season after leading his team to the Champions League final this term.

Clarke has made less than 30 appearances for Leeds thus far but has done well in his appearances under Bielsa, leading to plenty of admiring glances from the top flight.

The Verdict

This is good to hear for Leeds fans for sure, who will be desperate to see their club take a firm stance on the likes of Clarke.

The likelihood is though is that he will leave, but if Leeds continue to play hardball, then it might drive his price up and play into Leeds' hands a bit more.

This one is going to rumble on for a while yet though you would assume, and it would be no surprise to see Clarke out of Elland Road come the summer's end.
