Sky Bet Championship side Leeds United have submitted a contract offer to Barcelona youngster Rafa Mujica, according to reports from Football Insider.
The Whites missed out on promotion to the Premier League on Wednesday night, following a 4-3 defeat on aggregate to Derby County, with the club looking to go one step further next time around.
And, it is believed that Marcelo Bielsa’s side are already set on completing their first signing of summer, with Barcelona starlet Mujica reportedly on their radar.
The 20-year-old is set to leave the Catalan giants in the summer, meaning that he would be available on a free transfer, with Leeds eyeing up a move.
The exciting forward, able to play on either flank as well, scored seven goals in 33 games for the Barcelona B side this season, and would add competition to the likes of Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford up top.
Leeds will be looking to bounce back with automatic promotion next time out, despite Marcelo Bielsa’s future at Elland Road hanging in the balance after missing out in heartbreaking fashion this term.
It would be a real coup if Leeds were able to sign Mujica, especially on a free transfer.
He has come through the ranks at one of the greatest football clubs in the world, so he clearly has major talent and flair about him.
Leeds need another forward to challenge Roofe and Bamford up top, as Ryan Edmondson is yet to mark his authority on the first-team.
