Leeds United remain hopeful of signing exciting Premier League striker

Leeds United remain hopeful of signing Ashley Fletcher even though it is looking likely that Fletcher will join West Ham United from Manchester United rather than drop down to the Championship, according to The Daily Mail.

Following the signing, West Ham United are looking likely to allow Fletcher leave on loan to continue his development with a number of Championship sides interested.

Wolves, Bristol City and Leeds United are the three clubs that have been linked with Fletcher throughout the summer and it is looking likely that will continue.

Although Leeds were looking the favourites to sign Fletcher – they have subsequently suffered the disappointment of missing out on signing him on a permanent basis – The West Yorkshire side are still hopeful of signing the youngster on loan.

Fletcher impressed last season when he spent a loan spell at Barnsley, with Leeds hoping that he can replicate the success he had at Barnsley at Elland Road.

Garry Monk is still looking to add goals to his side and bolster his attacking ranks following the arrival of Marcus Antonsson and Fletcher may be the ideal foil for the Swede.

Leeds United fans, how do you feel about the news? Are you disappointed that Ashley Fletcher opted to join West Ham rather than Leeds? Do you think his development would have progressed further if he had dropped down to the Championship? Would you like to see him join on loan? Would he be a success?
