Leeds United have turned down a loan bid for Samuel Saiz, with the Whites only interested in selling the player on a permanent basis this summer.

That's according to Football Insider, who claim that an unnamed La Liga outfit made an approach to take the playmaker on a temporary basis for next season.

Saiz pushed for a move to Getafe in the January window earlier this year as he wanted to return to Spain, however his move to the Madrid-based side didn't really work out.

Even though they ended up finishing fifth in the league, to secure Europa League football, the 28-year-old only managed to score one goal from ten appearances, with the majority of those coming from the bench.

Therefore, Getafe won't be making the move permanent, with Saiz set to return to Thorp Arch for pre-season as things stand right now.

But, the report states that a move back to Spain is still on the cards, with Marcelo Bielsa not wanting the player and Saiz keen on going too.

The Verdict

You can understand why Leeds don't want to loan the player out as they don't really benefit from it as he is still their player and doesn't bring in a significant fee.

It's a shame for all parties that things didn't go to plan at Getafe but it's good for the Whites that Spanish sides are still showing an interest.

You would imagine this will get resolved in the end but Leeds are right to hold out for a permanent transfer and they will want decent money for the talented attacking midfielder.
