Leeds United are set to be handed a major injury boost as they head into the second-half of the season with Adam Forshaw set to step up his recovery process.

BBC Radio Leeds' Adam Pope issued the update on the midfielder's progress, and revealed that Forshaw is to return to light training next week for the promotion-chasing Whites.

Forshaw hasn't featured for the Leeds first team since their 1-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic back in late September, and he'll be keen to make up for lost time when he does return to action for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

The Whites are currently sat top of the Championship table, and will be confident of pulling clear of their promotion rivals as they head into the second-half of this year's campaign.

Leeds have already had their fair share of injury problems this season, but if Forshaw was to return to action, then the Whites could have much-needed depth in the midfield area as they look to retain top-spot in the second tier.

Leeds are next in action on Saturday when they take on Sheffield Wednesday in what could be a potentially tricky test for Marcelo Bielsa's men, with the Owls looking to finish inside the top-six this term.

The Verdict:

This is a welcome boost for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

Forshaw has rarely featured for Leeds this season, but when he has I've been impressed with what I've seen from the experienced midfielder.

He compliments the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich well in midfield, and would free up Stuart Dallas to return to his natural position.

If Forshaw can return to action by the end of this month, then Leeds might not have to be as active in the transfer market.
