Leeds United went back to the top of the Championship last night after a 2-1 win over Swansea at Elland Road.

After a tough month or so, Marcelo Bielsa's side were back to near their best as they won comfortably despite the scoreline.

It leaves them in a great position approaching the final 14 games and they will understandably be favourites for promotion.

And, one man who is hoping the Whites can get over the finishing line is former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.

The 46-year-old is well-known to support current Premier League champions Manchester City but he clearly has a soft spot for Leeds after his response to a fan on twitter earlier today.

That show of support is in contrast to brother Noel who has criticised the Yorkshire side in the past when playing in the city, as Leeds Live revealed.

Bielsa's team have a break now, with the side not playing again until 23 February, where they will resume their promotion push with a home game against Bolton, where they will be expected to win.

The Verdict

Gallagher will be old enough to remember some very good Leeds sides in the past and they will have had some good games with City over the years.

That's probably why he is keen on them to come back to the top-flight and there's no doubt they will add something to the league.

The Leeds fans will surely appreciate the support and now it's down to Bielsa and the team to make it happen.
