Leeds United loan striker Eddie Nketiah will be unable to play against his parent club Arsenal in the Third Round FA Cup tie between the two sides in January, according to Graham Smyth from the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The draw for the Third Round, the earliest point Championship and Premier League clubs enter the competition, took place yesterday and revealed that the Whites will have to travel to the Emirates at the start of January to face the Gunners.

It appears they will be without Nketiah for that trip, however, as Smyth has revealed he will be unable to play.

The 20-year-old arrived at Elland Road on a season-long loan in the summer and is the Whites' second-highest scorer (five goals), despite not starting a single Championship game and missing a month due to injury.

Patrick Bamford, the Whites top scorer with seven goals to his name, has started every league game this season, meaning Nketiah has been restricted to substitute appearances and Carabao Cup starts.

The Arsenal loanee has still popped up with some big goals for the Whites, including a late winner against Brentford and a late equaliser against Preston North End.

The 20-year-old's lack of game time has reportedly left Leeds expecting Arsenal to recall him in January and potentially send him on loan elsewhere.

The Verdict

This is perhaps to be expected but it's a shame that Nketiah won't be able to face his parent club in the FA Cup in January.

Whether he will still be at the Yorkshire club is another question entirely but you feel Leeds fans will have their fingers crossed he will over the next month.

The Whites have been fantastic this season, so it is going to be really interesting to see them face up against a big Premier League club like Arsenal.
