Samuel Saiz will be out of action for a further two weeks, it has been revealed by Paul Heckingbottom.

Heckingbottom has been speaking in depth to West Yorkshire Sport recently, with the Leeds United head-coach confirming that Saiz will not be back available to the Whites for a further two weeks due to a hamstring problem.

Leeds were without Saiz for their 2-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday last weekend due to the 27-year-old’s hamstring problem, which is expected to keep him out for a little while longer.

Saiz picked up a slight tear to his hamstring in the 2-2 draw with Reading earlier in March, which has handed the playmaker a setback.

Heckingbottom’s side are not in action this weekend due to the international break, but return over the Easter period with two testing Championship fixtures.

Leeds welcome Bolton Wanderers to Elland Road on Good Friday, before heading off to Fulham the following Tuesday for a clash with the form team in the Championship.

It remains to be seen if Saiz, who has nine goals across all competitions this season, will be available to Heckingbottom.

The Verdict

Saiz’s injury is frustrating for Leeds, as they have been deprived of the 27-year-old’s service for much of 2018 due to suspension and now injury.

There is no doubt that Heckingbottom’s side missed Saiz’s creativity against Sheffield Wednesday, and if he remains out for another couple of weeks, you’d imagine Leeds will struggle.

However, with Leeds not having anything to play for in the Championship, they would be foolish to rush Saiz back and aggravate any potential long-term injury.
