Tyler Roberts and Conor Shaughnessy remain on the sidelines, with the Leeds United duo facing lengthy lay-offs due to their respective injuries.

Adam Pope of BBC Radio Leeds has been speaking to Paul Heckingbottom, who has provided an update on the injured duo.

Roberts, who arrived at Elland Road just a month ago, is yet to feature for Leeds, after picking up an ankle injury in training, which according to Heckingbottom might need an operation.

Shaughnessy will not need an operation on the injury he picked up against Hull City last month, but is still set for an extended spell on the sidelines, as Leeds continue to assess the defender.

Heckingbottom is currently preparing his side for tomorrow’s clash with Brentford at Elland Road, with Leeds going in search of their first three points under their new head-coach.

A lengthy winless run has left Leeds 11th in the Sky Bet Championship table, with Heckingbottom’s side eight points outside the top-six heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.

The Whites were denied three points late on against Derby County on Wednesday evening, with Kasey Palmer scoring an injury-time equaliser for the Rams.

The Verdict

Roberts’ injury problems have been frustrating for the striker, who has been denied the opportunity to impress at Leeds following his arrival.

Likewise, Shaughnessy looked set for an extend run when he picked up his injury, which is a blow for the youngster.

With Leeds’ play-off chance looking extremely slim, it is unlikely that Heckingbottom will rush either of the duo back before the end of the season.
