Paul Heckingbottom and Leeds United have been dealt further blows, with confirmation coming that Stuart Dallas and Will Huffer have both picked up injuries whilst away on international duty.

A report from Leeds Live has revealed that both Dallas and Huffer are on their way back to Leeds, having picked up injuries whilst away with Northern Ireland and England’s under-20 squads respectively.

Dallas, who has featured regularly under Heckingbottom recently, has a thigh strain that will mean he misses clashes with South Korea and Panama in the coming week.

Huffer, Leeds’ young goalkeeper, has also withdrawn from England’s under-20 squad, returning to Thorp Arch with an undisclosed injury.

The 19-year-old has been impressive in Leeds’ development squad this season, and his injury setback could mean he misses part of the run-in for Leeds’ under-23 side.

Heckingbottom’s squad are enjoying a week off from the Championship this weekend, due to the international break.

Leeds will return to action a week today, when they welcome Bolton Wanderers to Elland Road at the beginning of the Easter Period.

Heckingbottom’s side currently sit 14th in the Championship table.

The Verdict

First and foremost, this is frustrating for Dallas and Huffer, who will have both hoped to feature during this week’s international break.

It is also a huge blow for Heckingbottom, particularly the potential absence of Dallas, who had featured regularly under the 40-year-old since his appointment at Leeds.

Huffer was unlikely to be involved with Leeds’ first-team between now and the end of the season, but the goalkeeper is progressing nicely and an injury setback will frustrate plenty of people around Elland Road.
