Leeds United ready to offload quartet of flops this summer

Leeds United will look to sell four players this summer if they can find takers, according to a report by The Yorkshire Evening Post.

Vurnon Anita, Pawel Cibicki, Hadi Sacko and Felix Wiedwald will all be offloaded if Leeds are able to find potential suitors this summer.

Paul Heckingbottom is looking to ship a number of under-performing fringe players from the club and this quartet are at risk of being axed.

Wiedwald arrived last summer but a few costly performances in goal meant he lost his place to Andy Lonergan and then to Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

Anita arrived in the summer from Newcastle United with high hopes after helping the Magpies to promotion but the versatile man has failed to make much of an impact, playing just 18 league games for the Yorkshire outfit.

Sacko started just one Championship game – with a further 13 appearances coming from the bench – while Cibicki played just seven league games.

Meanwhile the report also confirms that Leeds are still trying to land Abel Hernandez on a free transfer and the Uruguay international striker is keen on a move, while the Whites are waiting to hear back from Tom Pearce after offering their young left-back improved terms to fend off Premier League interest.

The Verdict

In order to generate funds for new signings, it is important that Leeds get these players off the wage bill and any transfer fee for their services would be a bonus.

It is hard to imagine who would take these players after they all proved to be major flops in the Championship.

Wiedwald will probably return to Germany, Sacko will head back to France, Cibicki could go back to Sweden or elsewhere on the continent and Anita might be set for a return to Holland.
