The 24-year-old winger was at Leeds United as a youth team player from 2005 to 2007, before moving to Bolton Wanderers in 2007.

Ward joins the increasing list of players being linked with a move to the Yorkshire club, however he is the first home-grown player who has been linked with a move in recent weeks.

Leeds United are in talks with Inter Milan midfielder Rene Krhin, as reported on FLW yesterday, and they are hoping to tie up a deal for him soon.

The Elland Road outfit have been hit with a transfer embargo by the Football League due to breaching Financial Fairplay Rules, so a deal for Danny Ward would have to be in the form of a loan deal.

Ward has a wealth of experience in the Football League, having had spells at Swindon Town, Coventry City and Huddersfield Town.

The 5ft 11 winger has gone on to make over 117 appearances for Huddersfield Town, and has scored 16 goals during his time there.

Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn has already said that he would likw to add a winger to the squad, speaking to LUTV back in November, Redfearn said: “We haven’t really got any genuine wingers within the squad. The width comes from full-back areas, so whether it’s a 4-3-3 or a diamond, the width seems to come from the full-back areas,”

“We’ve got good full-backs so it can be done like that, but it’s nice to have your plan B. It might bring a change where you have some genuine width with a natural attacking wide player.

“It’s maybe something that we’ll look at.

Leeds sit worryingly near the relegation zone in the Sky Bet Championship, and currently sit in 20th position in the division, having amassed 24 points from 24 league games.
