Leeds United are interested in signing Wolves winger Helder Costa on loan this summer, according to a report by Football Insider.

Costa joined Wolves for a then club-record fee of £13million from Benfica in 2017 and was an influential player as Nuno Espirito Santo’s won the Championship title in 2017-18.

The Portuguese winger did not make as much of an impact in the top flight last season, although he was still an important player, as Wolves finished seventh in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old made 30 appearances for Wolves in all competitions last season, scoring two goals and started 16 matches in the Premier League.

Leeds finished third in the Championship last season and head coach Marcelo Bielsa is looking to considerably strengthen his squad in the transfer market this summer, after agreeing to remain at Elland Road for another season.

This latest report states that Bielsa has made signing wingers a priority this summer, although the Argentine could be forced to rely on the loan market, after Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani admitted that the club will face a difficult transfer window.

The Verdict

This could be a fantastic signing for Leeds. Costa is an exciting and skilful player, who already has Championship experience. He would be perfect for the fast-paced attacking football that Bielsa was able to bring to Leeds last season.

Wolves will probably be looking to make more signings this summer, so Costa could find himself further down the pecking order at Molineux next season.

Perhaps the winger would favour a move away from Wolves to experience more first-team football and he could make a real impact for Leeds in the Championship next season.
