Sky Bet Championship side Leeds United are interested in signing Brentford goalkeeper Luke Daniels this summer, according to reports from Football Insider.

The 31-year-old played second fiddle behind Daniel Bentley for the majority of last season, making 19 appearances in all competitions and putting in an eye-catching display in the 1-1 draw at Elland Road.

But with only one year remaining on his current deal at Griffin Park, the former Scunthorpe is currently facing an uncertain future at the West London club, and it remains to be seen whether the Bees cash in this summer or let him leave for free next summer.

But after recently losing Daniel Bentley to Bristol City, Football Insider claim that another one of the Bees' shot-stoppers could be on their way out of the club, with Leeds believed to be interested in the player.

Kiko Casilla was a regular for Leeds in the second half of the campaign following his arrival from Real Madrid, but has since endured a tough spell at Elland Road, with a move back to Spain potentially on the cards.

After losing the number one jersey to Casilla, Bailey Peacock-Farrell has come out and suggested that he may look to leave Leeds this season, should he fail to reclaim his spot in Marcelo Bielsa's side.

The Verdict

For most Leeds fans, this transfer news is likely to be quite underwhelming, but it could be a very smart signing for the Whites.

Bielsa has seen first-hand that Daniels is a very underrated goalkeeper at Championship level, and he could be available for a cut-price this summer if they wish to sign him.

I doubt Brentford will want to lose Daniels straight after losing Bentley, though, so it will be hard for Leeds to lure him away from the Bees.
