Leeds United are interested in signing Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero, according to Argentinean TV station TyC Sports.
Romero has been used as a back-up option to David De Gea since arriving at Old Trafford from Sampdoria in 2015, making only seven Premier League appearances in five years.
The 33-year-old has made 59 appearances for the Red Devils in total, and his 15 appearances under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season have all come in cup competitions.
Have these 9 things happened to Leeds United this season?
TyC Sports claim that Marcelo Bielsa is interested in signing Romero this summer, as he looks to lure his fellow countryman to Elland Road.
Kiko Casilla’s future at Elland Road remains uncertain, with the Spaniard losing his place in Bielsa’s side after being given an eight-match ban for using racist language towards Jonathan Leko.
Illan Meslier has since come into the team and kept seven clean sheets in 10 games for Leeds, as the Whites secured a long-awaited return to the Premier League last week.
It is claimed by TyC Sports that Romero has “no place” at United, with a big decision to be made on whether Dean Henderson stays at Old Trafford this summer following loan spells with Sheffield United.
Romero would be a quality signing for Leeds United.
Meslier has been so impressive since coming into the team, but you feel that the 20-year-old needs an experienced figure to help him along.
Romero’s wages could prove to be a stumbling block, but he is a quality goalkeeper who could be a shrewd addition for the Whites.
