Young Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell has enjoyed a whirlwind of a month, appearing three times across March having usurped former number one Felix Wiedwald for the starting spot at Elland Road.

The 21-year-old has impressed despite conceding seven in his three appearances and appears to have nailed down his position within the team, with manager Paul Heckingbottom keen to experiment now that the club’s season is effectively over.

A dream month culminated in a first international appearance for the youngster, as Peacock-Farrell made his debut for Northern Ireland’s U21 side in the 0-0 draw with Iceland.

An impressive display saw the goalkeeper frustrate his northern European opponents and Leeds fans will hope he brings his international experiences back to Elland Road when they face Bolton Wanderers on Easter Friday.

The Verdict

Peacock-Farrell is a man with huge potential and fans will be delighted to see the player rewarded for his hard work with an international call-up.

The youngster will fancy his chances of breaking into the full international side given a lack of options available to manager Michael O’Neill and a continuation of current form will guarantee that his path to the first-team is relatively short.

The youngster has until the end of the season to convince Heckingbottom that he is worthy of the gloves ahead of the new campaign.
