Leeds United defender Tom Pearce is edging closer to finalising a loan move to League One side Scunthorpe United, according to Sky Sports News.

Pearce has struggled for game time in Marcelo Bielsa's first-team this season, and could certainly benefit from a loan spell away from the club.

The youngster has only made two substitute appearances this season in the Championship, and will be disappointed at his lack of game time this year, after such an impressive spell in the team towards the end of last season.

Scunthorpe could be the ideal destination for the young full-back as he looks to find regular first-team opportunities to further his development in the early stages of his career.

The League One side are on an impressive run of form, and are unbeaten in their last six league games and are amongst the form teams in the third tier of English football.

A successful loan move away from Leeds for the remainder of the season is ideal for Pearce and he could play a starring role in Leeds' future.

If Pearce was to join Scunthorpe, then he could be in line to make his debut for the club at the weekend when the Irons take on promotion-chasing Barnsley at Oakwell.

The Verdict

This is the best move for both parties involved.

Pearce isn't going to be getting a look in for Leeds this season in the first-team and is making the right move in looking for a loan move elsewhere.

He has a bright future ahead of him and could come back to Elland Road at the end of the season and challenge for a starting spot in Bielsa's squad next season.
