Stuart Dallas has highlighted Garry Monk’s belief in his Leeds United squad as the reason the Whites are flying high in the Sky Bet Championship, reports TEAMtalk.

Monk was appointed at Leeds last summer, becoming Massimo Cellino’s seventh head-coach since he took over at Elland Road in early 2014.

A difficult start to the season saw Leeds sit in the relegation zone in early September, but the Whites are now reaping the rewards for sticking with Monk by challenging for promotion to the Premier League.

Dallas, who has made 31 appearances across all competitions this season, praised Monk for his work, he said: “He hasn’t changed his ways from the start of the season.

“He believed in us and told us from the start he believed we were a good group and he promised us that if we bought into what he was doing we would give a good account of ourselves.

“At the start of the season we didn’t start too well but we kept going.”

Monk’s side put in an impressive performance in their last league outing, defeating Brighton and Hove Albion 2-0 at Elland Road, to solidify their place in the Play-Offs and also keep the pressure on the automatic promotion places.

Dallas has been away on international duty with Northern Ireland this week, but will return to Leeds ahead of Saturday’s clash with Reading at the Madejski Stadium, where the Whites will face another test of their promotion credentials against Jaap Stam’s side.
