Pontus Jansson has kept himself to himself in the news recently.

He's been over in Sweden with the national team and, on the back of last week's report suggesting he wanted talks with the manager, he's now seemingly launched an attack on the previous incumbent of the role, Thomas Christiansen.

Jansson has been chatting to Swedish media once again, this time about the treatment of fellow-Swede, striker Pawel Cibicki.

He was signed by Christiansen from Malmo in the summer for a fee of around £1.5m.

He made just seven Championship appearances and Jansson hasn't held back in his assessment of the situation.

“I think it’s pretty sick," he told Swedish news outlet fotbollskanalen.

"We won four or five matches when he started and he did well, but later he did not play anymore. It’s the boring part of the football world with a lot of politics. I try to help Pawel every day and keep him in good mood."

He did move to ensure his current manager wasn't in the firing line though, explaining how he understood why he might not be included now.

"He did well when he played and he deserves more, but then I can understand the new coach who may not have seen Pawel so much.”

Cibicki won the Swedish title three times with Malmo before his move, but played in ten league and cup games for Leeds without scoring a goal.  The 24-year old was last seen on January 30th as Leeds drew 0-0 with Hull City.

The Verdict

Maybe it's a translation thing, but it does seem as though Pontus Jansson has an awful lot to say about Leeds whilst he's away from the club. If Cibicki had been playing that well, surely he wouldn't have been dropped? Ten games without a goal for a forward player isn't a great return after all. Perhaps on his arrival bac in Leeds Jansson might focus on his own game, rather than outlandish media quotes about others.
