The hot topic of debate between Leeds United supporters recently has been whether Adam Forshaw should be starting for Marcelo Bielsa's side ahead of Kalvin Phillips.

The CDM role has been a fiercely contested position in the Leeds team for the majority of this season, but Marcelo Bielsa was forced to start Phillips against Middlesbrough at the weekend, with Forshaw nursing a knee injury.

But Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post revealed that Bielsa would have preferred to have started Forshaw if he was deemed fit enough for the game, which subsequently he wasn't.

So how will Kalvin Phillips be feeling after this latest development?

We look into a bit more detail as to how the 23-year-old is likely to react to Bielsa's latest comments.

One thing is for sure, is that Phillips will be doing everything he can to impress the Leeds boss for the remainder of the season, and he's certainly doing that.

He scored the all-important equaliser against Boro at the weekend, and put in an impressive display throughout the match and rarely put a foot wrong.

But Phillips is likely to be questioning as to how much more he can do to impress Bielsa, as he has been harshly dealt with since his dismissal against Nottingham Forest on New Year's Day.

If he can't find regular game time, and continues to be frozen out of the starting XI behind Forshaw, then could the midfielder be tempted by a move away from Elland Road to find regular game time?

That's surely one of the most concerning outcomes of all of this for Leeds United supporters, many of whom would prefer to see Phillips ahead of Forshaw in the pecking order.

It remains to be seen as to who Bielsa will opt to start against Swansea on Wednesday, but Phillips has done everything he can to stake a strong claim for a starting spot ahead of Forshaw.
