Lincoln City look set to win the race to sign Robbie Gotts on loan from Leeds United.

As per Sky Sports' Transfer Centre (14/10, 21:10), Gotts is in advanced talks with the League One side over a transfer that will see him join the Imps on loan from Elland Road.

The race to sign Gotts, 20, has been a fierce one this summer, with a host of EFL sides in the mix to take the midfielder on following Leeds' promotion to the Premier League.

Quiz: Do Huddersfield Town and Leeds United have these 10 things in common?

It appeared that it was Doncaster Rovers and Swindon Town were Lincoln's biggest threat towards the end of the window, but the Imps look set to get a deal for the youngster over the line imminently.

Gotts has made three appearances for Marcelo Bielsa over the course of the last couple of seasons.

He debuted in Leeds' FA Cup defeat to Arsenal back in January 2020, before stepping off the bench in a 2-0 defeat to Cardiff City back in June.

This year, he's failed to feature in a matchday squad in the Premier League and his only minutes came in the League Cup, which is a competition Leeds are now out of.

Lincoln are looking to sustain a promotion push in League One after four wins from their opening five fixtures.

The Verdict

This is a very good deal for Lincoln and, in many ways, it's a good move for Gotts.

The midfielder is technically excellent and those at Elland Road have high hopes for him. He just needs a run of consistent games.

That's hopefully going to come in a Lincoln side challenging for promotion in League One.
