Bailey Peacock-Farrell is set for a medical with Burnley as the young goalkeeper edges closer to the exit door at Leeds United.

Leeds are set to enter the season with Kiko Casilla as Marcelo Bielsa’s first choice, which has in turn opened the door for Peacock-Farrell to move on, with Burnley looking like his destination.

According to Alan Nixon, Peacock-Farrell is set for a medical with the Turf Moor outfit, with the 22-year-old’s exit now likely to come before Leeds begin their Championship season at Bristol City on Sunday.

A report from the Yorkshire Evening Post last night confirmed the fee to be around the £3.5m mark for the Northern Ireland international, who will step into the shoes of Tom Heaton at Burnley after his move to Aston Villa.

Peacock-Farrell has made 41 appearances in total for the senior side at Leeds after progressing through their academy, starting the season gone by as Bielsa’s No.1.

The goalkeeper made 28 appearances for the Whites as they stormed out ahead in the race for automatic promotion, but a few shaky performances forced Leeds the way of Casilla, who saw out the season as first choice.

However, Leeds slumped out of the automatic promotion race from there, before defeat to Derby County in the play-off semi-finals.

The Verdict

This is a transfer development that’s really progressing and it seems that Peacock-Farrell will be a Claret before we know it.

For the 22-year-old, he will feel he’s better than a back-up at the minute, and it’ll hurt him to see Casilla as the Whites’ first choice.

He knows he needs game time to keep his Northern Ireland place, and whilst that might not come straight away at Burnley, he is gaining a Premier League move, which in its own right, will help.
