Leif Davis has appeared to rule himself out of action this weekend, with the Leeds United left-back confirming he’s had an operation.

Leeds are light of bodies in the left-back position heading into Sunday’s clash with Aston Villa, with Barry Douglas and Ezgjan Alioski both ruled out of the remainder of the season.

Stuart Dallas, Gaetano Berardi and Davis were all options available to Marcelo Bielsa, but the latter seems to have ruled himself out.

The 19-year-old full-back, who can also operate in central defence, shared a video on Instagram confirming that his operation, which looks to be on his left knee, has gone well.

In his debut season with Leeds’ first-team, Davis has made four appearances under Bielsa, with his first start coming in the reverse fixture against Aston Villa.

This is the latest setback for Leeds in what has been a frustrating season on the injury front.

Douglas and Alioski will not be back available until the start of next season, whilst Kemar Roofe is also carrying a hip injury into this weekend, which rules him out of the clash with Aston Villa.

The Verdict

This is frustrating for both Leeds and Davis.

Bielsa isn’t blessed with options at left-back and Davis was one of those who was a natural, unlike Dallas and Berardi.

To lose him is a blow, whilst Davis will be frustrated that he will miss out on the remaining games of the season and likely play-off campaign.
